30,000 health workers to get first CoViD-19 vaccine shots in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines―The Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC) prepares for CoViD-19 vaccine roll-out starting the jabs for more than 30,000 health workers in the province, said Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Carlos D. Cortina III.

Earlier, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba said that the PGC shall be allocating a huge amount of funds for the procurement of CoViD-19 vaccines as vaccination for the constituents is one of his priorities. Also, he firmly said he is willing to get the first vaccine shot once the vaccines are already available in the province.

Cagayan Provincial Information Office reported that the 30,000 health workers were listed as the first priority from the master listing made but it is only 3% of the population of the province.

Last January, vaccine orientations, training and workshops of the regions and provinces were done which were followed by training in the city and towns regarding the guidelines, vaccine safety and the master listing.

Moreover, Cortina said that part of the activity plan for the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out is the involvement of various departments of PGC with important roles in the implementation of the vaccination.

These are the General Services Office (GSO), Provincial Office for People Empowerment (POPE), Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO), Task Force Lingkod Cagayan (TFLC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMO), all District Hospitals, Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Treasury Office, Accounting and Budget.
