Barangay captains in Tabuk City ordered to strictly implement management of COVID-19 death cases

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Due to the alarming number of recorded COVID-19-related deaths in Tabuk City, barangay captains are now mandated to strictly observe and implement guidelines on the management of COVID-19 death cases based on DILG-DOH Memorandum Circular No. 01 Series of 2020 dated April 16, 2020 or the “Suppletory Guidelines on the Management of Human Remains for patient under investigation and confirmed COVID-19 cases”.

In the directive released by the City LGU dated October 4, 2021, it said that all persons who died either at their homes and hospitals should undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

Added to this, a coordination should transpire with the funeral service provider for them to get the dead body of the person to facilitate the rapid antigen testing. While waiting for the results, the residence where the dead person lived should be temporarily cordoned off with caution tape for home deaths.

If the antigen test result yields positive, this will be considered as confirmatory and would require the burying or cremation of said remains within 12 hours from the time of death, while those that will yield negative result will undergo the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT -PCR) test to further confirm result.

“Kabayatan ti panaguray ti resulta, ti bangkay ket masapul nga maikabil iti sealed casket iti punerarya ken maiparit a mabisita. Nu ti resulta ket positibo, ti bangkay ket masapul nga maipunpun wenno ma-cremate iti las-ud iti dose (12) nga oras manipud pannakapusay ken dagiti addaan negatibo a resulta ket mapalubusan nga malamayan iti tallo (3) nga aldaw laeng,” the Vice Mayor’s office explained.

Relative to this, City Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as, thru his Vice-Mayor's Official Page, urged Tabukeños to continue adhering to health and safety protocols and strengthen their immunity as well as their trust and faith to the Creator.

“Narigat iti panagbiag gapu iti agdama a pandemya ngem narigrigat nu adda ti pumusay nga ipatpateg,” Dao-as said in a statement.
