1 killed, 2 injured in Cauayan City motorcycle collision

Cauayan City, Isabela - One person died, and two others were injured after two motorcycles collided head-on in Cauayan City, Isabela, on the evening of Saturday, January 13, 2024.

The deceased individual was identified as Berlito Calacien, 57, while the two injured parties were Leo Macadangdang, 34, and his minor back rider, all residents of the city.

According to local media reports, Macadangdang and his pillion passenger were riding a Rusi Royal motorcycle when the incident occurred in Barangay Rizal.

Macadangdang stated to the police that Calacien, riding an XRM 125, allegedly encroached into his lane, leading to the collision. Both Macadangdang and Calacien were reported not wearing helmets during the incident.

As a result of the collision, Calacien, the XRM rider, suffered severe head injuries, resulting in his unfortunate death. Macadangdang and his minor back rider, however, survived the incident and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in the city.

Macadangdang is expected to face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
