TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Kalinga recorded 12 fire incidents during the third quarter of 2026, up from nine incidents during the same period last year, while property damage from fires dropped sharply.

Structural fire damage declined from ₱713,850 in 2025 to ₱66,000 in 2026, while non-structural damage fell from ₱326,000 to ₱83,000.

The figures were presented during the 3rd Quarter Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) Meeting on September 30, 2026 at Davidson Hotel.

The BFP identified grass fires linked to open burning and agricultural land clearing in the province as a continuing concern, particularly during dry and hot conditions.

The BFP continues to conduct fire safety lectures, emergency drills, public information campaigns, and First Aid and Basic Life Support training.

It is also implementing a “No Body-Worn Camera, No Inspection” policy during fire safety inspections to promote transparency and accountability and protect fire safety personnel and business owners.

The BFP reminded the public to observe fire safety measures, avoid unsafe open burning and remain vigilant to help prevent fires and protect lives and property.
