Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – A rumble between two groups of teenagers in Tuguegarao City resulted in the stabbing of a 14 and a 17-year-old student on Mabini Street in Ugac Sur on Saturday, July 19.

The suspect was a 13-year-old boy who is a resident of the city.

According to the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, two groups of minors had a heated altercation inside the campus, and after the afternoon mass, the argument was carried over to the Fountain Food House. That was when a 13-year-old allegedly stabbed the two older students. They are now recuperating from their injuries.

The suspect’s group attempted to escape on a tricycle, but they were caught by the responding security personnel. The group was later turned over to the Tuguegarao City police where the cops recovered two knuckles. The object used in the stabbing is yet to be found.

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, on the same day of the incident, released a statement urging the public to keep from drawing premature conclusions and let the ongoing investigation proceed without speculation.

“As the case involves minors, we respectfully urge the public to refrain from drawing premature conclusions and allow the investigation to proceed without speculation. Thank you for your cooperation,” the university wrote.

This is not the first time that teens have been involved in a fight in the city. It could be recalled that in September 2022, there was a heated argument and a fistfight among teenagers that led to the stabbing of three students.
