Tabuk City, Kalinga – An 18-year-old student in Bulanao was trying to make a decent living to earn for his schooling when he was attacked by fellow teenagers early morning of Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Purok 4, Bulanao.
The victim, a grade 12 student, was mauled in front of the Salam establishment in Purok 4 around 4:08 a.m. while he was on his way to open their stall at Bulanao Public Market.
In an interview with GURU Press Cordillera, the victim’s cousin, Melisa Pineda, revealed that the 18-year-old was walking on the road when he was suddenly attacked by the suspects. She described that one teen kicked the victim first before another one followed and did the same. She added that two of the four suspects held the victim while the other two beat him.
The beating caused a cut above the victim’s eye, bruises around his eye, and now he is enduring a headache because of the blows he got from the four teens.
Pineda shared that her cousin wanted nothing but to work for his allowance, which is why he gets up at 4:00 a.m. on the weekends to open their stall and sell their goods.
“Isu pagal-alan na allowance na ta haan na met kayat agdawat kwarta na kanyak. Every awan klase na isu ayuyang na idiay market. Active pay suna ti skwelaan haan na pulos kayat ag-absent,” she told GURU Press Cordillera.
With the incident, Pineda advises parents to track their children’s activities and not to tolerate them should they be involved in hurting and bullying their fellow kids or teens.
