For 2025, one of the latest cases of sexual violence in the region involved a grade 10 student,  believed to have been taken advantage of by a college teacher in Baguio City.

According to the Baguio City Police Office, as cited by the Mountain Beacon, the girl was walking to school around 8:20 a.m. on July 9 when a vehicle stopped in front of her. The victim thought the driver might have known her, so she approached the unknown car only to be dragged by the suspect, who then covered her mouth and nose, causing her to lose consciousness.

Two hours later, the student woke up alone and naked inside an unfamiliar room. She managed to dress and leave the place despite the pain she felt coming from her private parts.

The girl later contacted her class adviser, who reported the incident to the police. In response, the authorities launched an operation, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Formal complaints for rape and kidnapping were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office on July 14. The accused, whose name was not disclosed, remains in police custody.
