Kalinga police reported that the three were riding a motorcycle when they were flagged down by the personnel manning a checkpoint in Barangay Dilag on July 12 because they were not wearing a helmet and that their motorcycle has no headlight. However, the three challenged the police for a chase when they sped past the checkpoint, prompting the cops to pursue them.

The accused who were later identified as residents of Mapaco, Pinukpuk and Bayabat, Dilag did not get away from the police and ended up caught.

A body search was conducted to the three where the cops found a Wanpung, a locally made pistol and two pieces of .45 caliber ammunition from one of the riders. Without a document to prove he’s eligible to carry a firearm, the said accused violated RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Due to their action, the three accused were also charged with violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, specifically for Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority.

They were all brought to the Tabuk City Police Station.
