Isabela, Philippines – Of all the places a burglar in Isabela can choose to target, he selected the house of a police officer in Purok 2, Rizal, Santiago City.

It was past 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, when the 28-year-old policeman assigned at the Santiago City Police Office Station 2 went home from his duty. When he arrived at their home, he noticed a figure at the corner of their balcony and when he called the person out, the latter shouted ‘wag kumilos!’

The suspect hidden under the name ‘Jay-jay’, 37 was quick to draw his Caliber 38 Revolver gun and pointed it towards the 28-year-old. The cop was able to get the gun from the suspect but the burglar swiftly took his service firearm from him, XFM Santiago reported.

The two fought each other where the 37-year-old accused managed to fire the gun he was holding. Fortunately, the bullet missed the police officer and that the gunshot sound alerted the police officer’s uncle who came to his rescue.

With the help of his uncle, the police officer overpowered the accused which resulted into his arrest. Both of the police officer and suspect were injured in their fight and brought to the hospital for medical assistance.

The 37-year-old man will be facing charges on Qualified Trespass to Dwelling, Direct Assault, and RA 10591 or the Illegal Possession of Firearms.
