78-yr-old woman in Luna, Apayao found dead at a creek in Barangay Lappa

Luna, Apayao - After going missing on July 14, Guadalupe T. Ubaldo,78, a.k.a “OPENG”, a widow, was finally found on July 31, 2025, but already dead.

Openg was discovered by three (3) farmers along Salvador Creek in Sitio Pag-asa, Barangay Lappa. 

Luna Police, according to their initial investigation, reported that at about 2:00 PM yesterday, Rolly Duag Talosig, Valentine Duag Talosig and Agusto Tamayo, all single and farmers from Barangay Lappa, saw the body of the missing old woman.

Tamayo related that he and his companions were catching fish along Salvador Creek at Sitio Pagasa, when he noticed a human body lying on her back. He then informed his two companions and later immediately reported to the Luna MPS.

The BFP Luna led by Fire Marshall Jhonny Quimoyog , Personnel of MPS, under PCPT Gideon A. Bennaguen, and the MDRRMO led by Jomar Bragas proceeded to the area and verified the report.

The responders found a female cadaver at the scene in the late stage of decomposition. Apayao PFU led by PCPT Joven C. Pulano processed the area prior to the retrieval of the dead body.

The deceased was confirmed by her granddaughter Marlie L. Narag, and her daughter-in-law Roselyn Ramos, based on physical features, dental appearance, scar on the abdomen, manicure, and leggings.

The family said Openg had been suffering from mental health problems.

Authorities are still investigating the real cause of death of the old woman.
