2 killed, 1 injured in multiple vehicle collision in Isabela

Ramon, Isabela – Two individuals were killed, while one was injured in a multiple-vehicle collision that transpired along the national highway in Barangay Bugallon Proper, Ramon, Isabela around 12 a.m. of December 8, 2022.


The casualties were named as Addison Kyle La-ao, a staff of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera, and Karen Briones who used to be a farmer-partner of the agency. Both were residents of Itogon, Benguet.


The injured, meantime, was identified as Tommy Timoteo, also a resident of Itogon, Benguet.

Ramon police said the vehicles involved include a Foton closed-wing van, a trailer truck, and a sub-compact vehicle.


The closed-wing van where the casualties were on board was heading in the south direction when the sub-compact vehicle driven by Allan Mark Barroza from Bugallon Norte, Ramon crashed into it.


Danilo Daguio of DA-CAR through a Facebook post said the victims came from Tabuk to assist in the conduct of a KADIWA event.


With the impact of the crash, the closed-wing van collided with the trailer truck driven by Mark Andy Bago, a resident of Bantay, Solana, Cagayan.


The victims were ferried to Southern Isabela Medical Center in Santiago City where La-ao and Briones died while being treated. Timoteo, meantime, is still at the said healthcare facility.


As to the driver of the sub-compact vehicle, he fled the scene but was later captured by police.


The driver of the sub-compact vehicle was under the influence of alcohol, the police said.
