CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela — Two pupils died while two others were injured after they were allegedly electrocuted during a Bubble and Color Fun Run at Cauayan South Central School on Saturday morning, October 3, 2026.

According to local reports, four students were attended to by Rescue 922 and brought to two hospitals in Cauayan City for medical treatment after the incident.

More than 1,000 people, including students, parents and some barangay officials, participated in the activity, which started at around 4 a.m. at the school.

After completing the run, participants returned to the school grounds where a bubble party was held. It was during this portion of the activity that several participants reportedly experienced the electrical incident.

One of the fatalities was identified in local media reports as a Grade 2 pupil.

Bombo Radyo Cauayan reported that the child's family was seeking answers and accountability following the incident. The pupil had reportedly celebrated a birthday on October 1, two days before the tragedy.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident, including the possibility that an electrical wire or connection became grounded in the area where the bubble activity was held. The bubble and color machines used during the activity were also being examined to determine whether they were connected to the incident.

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III also went to the school after learning about the incident and spoke with police and school personnel to obtain information about what happened and the status of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Cauayan South Central School expressed condolences to the families of the pupils who died.

In a statement, the school administration, teachers, personnel and School Parent-Teacher Association said they were deeply saddened by the tragedy and were extending sympathy to the bereaved families, relatives, friends and the entire school community.

The school said the incident remains under investigation by the authorities and urged parents, students and other stakeholders to wait for the results of the investigation and avoid spreading unverified information or speculation.

The school also emphasized its commitment to the safety and welfare of its students and appealed to the school community to provide emotional support to those affected by the tragedy.

Authorities have yet to release a final report establishing the exact cause of the incident or determining whether any individual or organization may be held responsible.

The investigation remains ongoing.
