BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — The fatal fall of a woman from a condominium along Kisad Road in Baguio City was accidental, according to police, who provided additional details on what happened before the incident Sunday morning.

The woman, who was reportedly more than 70 years old, fell from the rooftop of the building’s eighth floor shortly after 8 a.m. on October 4.

Police did not disclose the identity of the victim.

The woman, based on a police follow-up report obtained by the Bombo Radyo News Team through a phone interview, was reportedly trying to retrieve an unidentified item located on the other side of a nearby roof when she fell.

A 19-year-old man was already on the rooftop at the time. He had gone there to check on clothes he had left behind and to smoke.

The young man reportedly saw the woman place a monobloc chair near the railing before leaving the area.

Several minutes later, the woman returned and asked him to help retrieve an item from the other side of the roof. He reportedly advised her to seek assistance from condominium staff, but she insisted on retrieving the item herself.

She then climbed onto the chair she had placed near the railing and attempted to reach the item.

Seeing her in a dangerous position, the man reportedly tried to hold onto her clothing as she reached toward the other side of the rooftop.

However, he was unable to hold on as she continued reaching for the item.

The woman fell from the rooftop and sustained fatal injuries.

She was later declared dead, and her remains were brought to a funeral home in the city.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident indicated that the fall was accidental. Authorities may release additional details once the documentation of the incident is completed.
