Baguio’s HOHO bus gives free rides to tourists on Fridays to Sundays

Updated: Jul 27, 2022

Baguio City, Philippines – Baguio City’s Hop On, Hop Off buses are now operational and are serving tourists on Fridays to Sundays, an initiative of the city to lessen the volume of vehicles plying the roads during days when tourists flock the summer capital.

The idea is for tourists to encourage private vehicles to be parked and utilize the HoHo bus to go around places of destinations.

Baguio Tourism Council told Guru Press Cordillera that they have logged 148 tourists using the buses during the first two weeks of operation.

The operation of the HOHO bus system started on July 15, 2022. HoHo buses only run from Fridays to Sundays from 8:30 in the morning to 6:20 in the evening.

Tourists who have been approved by VISITA QTP or those who got the tourist pass can avail of the free unlimited rides, but they will have to pay a parking fee after leaving their vehicles in designated parking areas.

The existing parking rates at the Baguio Convention Center are as follows: P35 for light vehicles in the first two hours plus P10 for every additional hour of parking, P40 for mini excursion buses plus P15 per additional hour, P400 for regular tourist buses, and P15 per additional hour, while P10 for motorcycles with P5 additional per hour of parking.

After parking their vehicles in the parking areas, tourists will get a ticket to serve as a bus permit to ride on the HOHO bus.

The bus sets off from Baguio Convention Center to the Botanical Garden as the first stop, Mansion House as the second stop, Mines View Park as the third stop, and Wright Park via Gibraltar Road as the fourth stop, and finally moves toward South Drive to drop off the tourists at Governor Pack Road.

At this point, tourists can stroll around the central business district and Burnham Park. Travelers claiming back their parked vehicle shall surrender their bus permit. Lost bus permit shall be charged P25.

Baguio Tourism Office, through the Public Information Office-City of Baguio, is encouraging tourists to be part of the solution in decongesting the traffic in the city.
