Baguio's trans queen primed for international pageant in London spotlight

Baguio City, Philippines – A transgender queen from Baguio City is set to conquer the world pageant this coming September in London, United Kingdom.

 

A. R. Duque of Barangay Dontogan will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming 2024 Miss Trans Global Pageant on September 16 after winning this year’s Miss Trans Global Philippines.

 

Just before she hit the stage for said competition, the Baguio City local government lauded her for representing the country in the upcoming competition through Resolution 217 series of 2024 which was awarded to her recently.  


Duque who was crowned Empress Universe Trans 2022 in India is advocating for equal rights and opportunities for everyone.

 

“I firmly stand for equal rights and opportunities for every individual, irrespective of their gender identity or expression. This belief fuels my advocacy efforts, which include awareness campaigns, community outreach, and policy advocacy aimed at fostering a more inclusive society,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

 

She also expressed her commitment to celebrating Baguio’s heritage, saying, “beyond my professional endeavours, I am deeply committed to celebrating Baguio City's vibrant tradition and culture, recognizing the transformative power of cultural creativity.”
