24-yr.-old suspected killer of elderly couple in Pinukpuk charged with double murder

Pinukpuk, Kalinga – The 24-year-old suspect who allegedly killed an elderly couple at Sitio Magtanga, Wagud, Pinukpuk is now facing double murder charges.

 

The conduct of an inquest proceeding was already concluded, thus the filing of said case against the suspect.

 

The accused, whose identity is withheld by the police, is currently detained at the Bureau of Jail Management of Penology-Kalinga.

 

To recall, the remains of the victims - Ruben Dangiwan, 65, and Apolonia 'Puring' Dangiwan, 64, were found at their residence on May 15, savagely stabbed to death – based on numerous stab wounds to their heads and upper torsos.


The male victim suffered from 13 hack wounds while the female victim sustained 11 hack wounds.


Police investigation revealed that before the grim discovery, the suspect and the male victim had a drinking session. Along with them were some other individuals who already left before the killing.

 

As relayed, the suspect, who is also their neighbor was about to go home when the male victim made a remark that angered the young man. The remark, based on the suspect’s statement, is linked to jealousy.

 

The suspect claimed the male victim even threatened to hack him, thus he decided to make the deadly attack. When the female victim tried to stop him, the accused also attacked her.

 

The suspect was arrested through a hot pursuit operation on Thursday, May 16, as his father admitted to authorities that his son was responsible for the killing.
