Tabuk City, Kalinga – After realizing they had been fooled by the leftist group for too long, a husband and wife decided to return to the fold of law on Thursday, May 9.

The two were part of the Militia ng Bayan from 2019 to 2021.

They were identified as alias Marco, 26; and alias Betty, 27 – both are farmers and residents of Sta. Teresita, Cagayan.

They served as messengers for the group or those that had been tipping information on the move of the government troops against communist groups, particularly in Gonzaga, Sta. Teresita, and Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

During their surrender to authorities, they also admitted they had been buying supplies for the communist terrorist group, which the group gets from their house during the night.

The two were sent home following a custodial briefing and are set to benefit from the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).

The program serves as a peace-building initiative of the national government that aims to end local communist armed conflict.

Through it, former rebels and supporters will be provided with immediate assistance, provision of reintegration process, livelihood assistance, and firearms remuneration if they surrender a firearm.
