19-yr.-old boy suffering with heart failure drown in Siffu River, Paracelis


Paracelis, Mt. Province – A young man became the latest victim of drowning in the Siffu River, which some nearby residents describe as the “killer river” because of numerous drowning that have occured at the area.

 

On Tuesday, April 02, the 19-year-old boy went with his companion to Sitio Bayongyong, Barangay Bananao in Paracelis, Mt. Province, to dry corn kernels. While there, the boy was asked by one of his fellows to go back home and get goggles for them to use for fishing at the river, report from the authorities stated.

 

After a few minutes, the teen’s companion wondered why he had not returned yet. They searched for him, only to discover that he had drowned in said river.


Attempts were done by the responding authorities who further rushed the victim to Paracelis District Hospital but he was declared dead upon arrival.

 

The boy was identified as Jesmael Lasan. His family conveyed the boy has a history of heart failure and is taking medication for it. According to them, Jesmael might have suffered a heart attack while at the river, causing him to drown.

 

The medical examination confirmed that the teen died due as a result of asphyxia secondary to drowning.
