‘Ibaga yo kadakami ti maobserbayo’: BM Dangani urges Kalinga patients to speak up on health services

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Improvements at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) and other health facilities in the province should not be limited to new equipment, renovated areas, and upgraded infrastructure.

For Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Alfredo K. Dangani, patients and their families should also have a voice in identifying areas that still need improvement, particularly in the services and treatment they receive from health personnel.

‘Haan lang nga health facilities’

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Dangani stressed that public feedback should not be limited to the physical condition of health facilities.

He said the provincial government also needs to hear directly from patients about their experiences and how health personnel provide services to them.

“We need cooperation coming from kakailyan. Nu adda man ma-observe da nga ma-improve tayo, ket ipakaammo da. Haan lang nga health facilities, but syempre, we are talking to provincial health personnel also,” Dangani said.

Patients and their families, he noted, directly experience the services inside hospitals. Their observations can therefore help officials identify areas that may still require attention.

Dangani said concerns raised by the public can also be discussed with health personnel to ensure that future improvements consider both the welfare of healthcare workers and the patients they serve.

Feedback can help lawmakers act

Dangani said information and feedback from residents can also help the Sangguniang Panlalawigan determine what measures may be needed to address concerns in provincial health facilities.

“Tapno ti kasta ket maikkan kami ti information tapno ti kasta ket maaramid mi ti karbengan mi, kas koma iti panagaramid ti provincial ordinances as to the effect of improving kadagitoy health facilities tayo,” he said.

For the provincial lawmaker, understanding what patients experience can provide a basis for possible policies or ordinances aimed at improving healthcare services across the province.

He encouraged patients and their families to communicate their observations and concerns so these can be properly brought to the attention of the provincial government.

Improvement continues

Dangani also assured constituents that the Provincial Government will continue its efforts to improve healthcare facilities and services in the province under the leadership of Governor James Edduba, with the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Atty. Dave Odiem.

“Itultuloy tayo nga i-improve ti health facilities ditoy province. While waiting iti na-file met ni Apo Congresswoman tayo, dayta bill na tapno ti kasta ket under DOH koma dayta provincial hospital tayo,” he said.

The local legislator’s call came following recent improvements at KPH.

On August 18, the hospital held the blessing and inauguration of its newly renovated Emergency Room, new X-ray machine, Patient Transport Vehicle, and hemodialysis machine.

While these physical improvements are necessary to strengthen healthcare delivery, Dangani emphasized that the quality of service and the way health workers treat patients are equally important.

For him, a better hospital is not only about better facilities—it is also about better service for every Kalinga patient who walks through its doors.
