SAN PABLO, Isabela — Five people, including a 22-year-old driver, were injured after a Toyota Vios allegedly driven under the influence of alcohol crashed into an ISELCO II concrete power post along the National Highway in Barangay Poblacion, San Pablo, Isabela, at around 3:12 a.m. on August 23, 2026.

Police identified the driver only as alias “Darren,” 22, who was traveling with four other passengers, all reportedly students. The group was heading to Tuguegarao City when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

Personnel from the San Pablo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Bureau of Fire Protection rescued the five occupants and brought them to Milagros Albano District Hospital in Cabagan. They were later transferred to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao for further treatment.

The crash severely damaged the vehicle, while the San Pablo Municipal Police Station continued investigating the incident.

San Pablo police chief PCPT. Pedro Allam reminded motorists to never drive after drinking, stressing that alcohol can impair judgment and turn an ordinary trip into a life-threatening crash.

He urged motorists to designate a sober driver or use alternative transportation after drinking.

Police reminder: Stay sober, stay alert, and follow traffic rules. No drink is worth risking your life—or someone else’s.
