Pinukpuk, Kalinga – A family from Wagud, Pinukpuk, is crying for justice following the brutal killing of a husband and wife on the evening of Wednesday, May 15.

The dead bodies of the elderly couple, Ruben Dangiwan, 65, and Apolonia 'Puring' Dangiwan, 64, were discovered with numerous stab wounds in their residence.

Murder weapons, including a knife and a bolo, were likewise found beside the two victims.

In an interview with Ruff Manganip, Deputy Community Relations Officer of PNP Kalinga, he said that based on investigations, the victims had a drinking session with the suspect before the incident.

While in the middle of their drinking bout, the male victim, who was known for his jealousy, made a remark that angered the suspect.

It was then that the deadly attack was made by the suspect.

A hot pursuit operation was conducted by police on Thursday morning, May 16, that resulted in the arrest of the suspect who is a 24-year-old man.

Manganip disclosed that the suspect’s father admitted to authorities that his son was responsible for the killings.

Meantime, as blood stains were found on the wristwatch of the suspect’s father, police said he would also undergo questioning, although he initially claimed to have acquired them when he tried to stop his son from committing the heinous crime.

As of this writing, the suspect is now undergoing inquest proceedings.
