Baguio City, Philippines – Two women local tourists got into a physical fight over a viewing spot during the Grand Floral Float Parade of the 2026 Panagbenga Festival on March 1.

For this year’s Panagbenga, the Baguio City Police estimated a crowd of around 143,000 spectators during the Grand Floral Float Parade on Sunday alone. The spectators gathered along the streets of Baguio City to watch the elaborate display of 30 colorful and creatively designed floats that paraded along Session Road.

Amid the festive atmosphere and the large crowd, two women who were watching the event in the Maharlika area reportedly had a disagreement over a viewing spot. The argument later escalated into a physical altercation, with the two women pulling each other’s hair.

According to PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron of the Baguio City Police Office, in an interview with PTV Cordillera, the two women were brought to the police station where they eventually agreed not to file charges against each other.

“[Dahil] sa pwesto, ang sabi ng isa sa kanya … siya raw ang nauna. Yun yung naging sanhi ng kanilang mainit na pagtatalo that led to nagkasakitan sila. But then dinala sila dito sa police station, nagkaroon sila ng agreement na hindi sila magfa-file ng kaso,” Marron said.

Despite the large number of people who attended the Panagbenga Festival, the Baguio City Police Office reported that no other serious or untoward incidents were recorded during the festival’s highlights.
