Ifugao's pride enters Mr. Universe Philippines Final 40

HUNGDUAN, Ifugao – Ifugao titleholder Joe Marzon Dunuan has earned a coveted spot among the 40 official candidates of Mr. Universe Philippines 2026, placing the province in the national spotlight as he competes for one of the country's most prestigious men's pageant titles.

Mr. Universe Philippines is a national pageant that provides Filipino men with a platform to showcase not only their personality, confidence, and leadership but also their purpose, advocacy, and commitment to representing their respective communities.

This year's pre-pageant activities are scheduled on July 31, while the grand coronation night will be held on August 2, when the next Mr. Universe Philippines will be crowned.

Dunuan emerged as one of the final 40 candidates after undergoing an extensive nationwide search and screening process that drew hundreds of aspiring contestants from across the country.

In a Facebook post, the Mr. Universe Philippines organization said every screening introduced candidates with unique stories, aspirations, and advocacies, making the selection process highly competitive.

"The search is almost over. Across the country, aspiring gentlemen stepped forward to prove they have what it takes to wear the title of Mister Universe Philippines 2026. Every screening brought remarkable personalities, inspiring stories, and outstanding potential. Now, the Selection Committee faces the difficult task of choosing the Final 40 Official Candidates," the organization said.

Dunuan's inclusion in the prestigious pageant marks another milestone in his growing pageantry career.

In 2024, he was crowned Mister Grand Philippines–Cordillera while representing the Municipality of Hungduan. He later competed in the national finals, where he earned the Mister Grand Philippines Ambassador of Innovation title, bringing recognition not only to Ifugao but also to the Cordillera region.

For Ifugao, Dunuan's latest achievement provides another opportunity to showcase the province on the national stage through pageantry.

Over the years, the province has produced promising candidates who have helped promote Ifugao's rich culture, tourism, and the potential of its young leaders to a wider audience.

As he vies for the Mr. Universe Philippines crown, Dunuan also hopes to inspire more young Ifugaos to pursue opportunities that allow them to showcase not only their talents but also their advocacies while proudly representing their communities before a national audience.
