Igorot general now Metro Manila top cop

Tabuk City, Kalinga – An Igorot general will be leading the police force in serving and protecting more than 13 million people in the National Capital Region.

Cordilleran cop, Police Major General Edgar Alan Okubo was recently installed as the NCR Regional Police Director, the Philippine National Police reported on February 25.

Okubo will be in charge of ensuring the safety of around 13,484,462 individuals and in promoting peace and order in Metro Manila, the seat of government in the country.

The Igorot two-star general received the command for the National Capital Region Police Office, the PNP’s largest and most complex office from Police Major General Jonnel Estomo.

During the turnover ceremony, Okubo vowed to work tirelessly in securing the constituents in Metro Manila. He likewise committed to continuing what his predecessor has started

PNP Chief of Police, PGen. Rodolfo Azurin conveyed his full confidence in Okubo’s capability and leadership skills saying, “…You are taking the helm of an organization that is committed to the highest standards of professionalism, and I know that you will continue to uphold these values as you lead the NCRPO.”

Okubo is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1992. He was the Chief of the Special Action Force, a position which is now taken over by fellow Cordilleran, PBGen. Rudolph Dimas.
