Tabuk City, Kalinga — The Province of Kalinga formally adopted Lt. Gen. Aristotle Danan Gonzales as one of its own during the 31st Founding Anniversary and 7th Bodong Festival, bestowing upon him the honorary name “Gasingga” at the Kalinga Sports Complex on February 14, 2026.

During the formal program, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga, through a resolution presented by Board Member Emilio Kitongan, officially conferred the tribal honor in recognition of Gonzales’ dedication to peace building in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The honorary name “Gasingga” is a revered traditional symbol of a fearless warrior, shaped under the guidance of a chieftain. It represents exceptional strength, skill, discipline, and courage—embodying a life journey marked by sacrifice, valor, and service, culminating in the promotion of peace, unity, and harmonious communities.

In his speech, Gonzales expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Province of Kalinga for welcoming him as its newly adopted son. He also lauded the strength, resilience, and unity of the Kalinga people, emphasizing how their culture and traditions have long fostered peace and community harmony.

“I stand before you not only as the commander of the Northern Luzon Command, but as a partner in your journey, a witness to your strength, and a true admirer of your culture—a culture that has fostered peace. I am truly humbled by the distinction of being welcomed as an adopted son of Kalinga,” Gonzales said.

Meanwhile, he reaffirmed the Northern Luzon Command’s commitment to stand with the people of Kalinga—listening, protecting, and partnering to ensure that the province’s culture remains a source of strength for generations to come.
