Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) reported that a total of 277 personnel have been deployed across the province to ensure public safety and security in anticipation of Holy Week, focusing on key areas such as churches, transport terminals, public markets, and tourist destinations.

Speaking before various stakeholders, KPPO Provincial Operations Management Unit officer Police Major George Acob shared details of the deployment in identified areas during the Summer Vacation (SUMVAC) 2026 meeting held on March 31 at the Golden Berries Hotel in San Juan, Tabuk City.

Acob said police assistance desks will be set up in identified worship areas and along major roads during the holiday rush. The deployment will cover areas province-wide, including 24 worship areas, 21 major thoroughfares, five bus terminals, five commercial areas (public markets), and 46 identified convergence areas such as tourist destinations and resorts, which are expected to draw large crowds during the long weekend.

The KPPO will also continue conducting checkpoint operations and intensified patrols, especially in business districts, to prevent road accidents, traffic-related incidents, and crimes against property, as many residents are expected to leave their homes unattended, according to the police official.

“In relation to this Holy Week, the KPPO has different tasks to be executed, so we have to ensure the establishment of assistance desks in churches, terminals, markets, tourist destinations, and other areas of convergence. Likewise, we will continue to conduct patrols, especially in business district areas… troops will be deployed, and certainly, we have other deployments aside from those identified locations,” he said.

To further strengthen security operations, the 277 deployed PNP personnel will be joined by 40 augmentation forces from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other law enforcement units that will support the police. The police official also called on other government units, including local tourism offices, to closely coordinate with authorities and support security and safety efforts throughout the Holy Week observance.

“…yung other units po na gustong sumama during the Holy Week, please coordinate with the nearest police station. And lastly, we call on all Department of Tourism offices and local tourism units of LGUs to support the conduct of security operations. For intelligence, we will sustain information monitoring with regard to plans and activities across the province. We also have to ensure the monitoring of both our troops and civilians,” Acob added.

With personnel deployed, authorities remind the public to remain vigilant and observe safety precautions at all times, especially during the Holy Week and summer vacation season.
