KPPO deploys 277 personnel across Kalinga for Holy Week

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO) has deployed a total of 277 personnel across the province to ensure public safety and security this Holy Week, focusing on strategic areas such as churches, transport terminals, public markets and tourist destinations.

 

Speaking before various stakeholders, KPPO's Provincial Operations Management Unit, Police Major George Acob shared about details of deployment in identified areas, during the Summer Vacation (SUMVAC) 2026 Meeting held on March 31 at the Golden Berries Hotel in San Juan, Tabuk City.

 

Acob said police assistance desks are set up in identified worship areas and along major roads during the holiday rush. Said deployments cover 24 churches; 21 locations for the major thoroughfares; 5 identified bus terminals; 5 commercial areas (public markets); and 46 identified convergence areas or tourist destinations and resorts which are expected to draw large crowds during the long weekend in Kalinga.

 

Acob added that the KPPO shall continue conducting checkpoint operations and intensified patrols, especially in business districts, to prevent traffic-related incidents and crimes against property as many residents are expected to leave their homes.

 

“In relation to this Holy Week, the KPPO have different tasks to be executed and so we have to ensure the establishment of assistance along the churches, terminals, markets, tourist destinations and other areas of convergence. Likewise, although sustained, we still conduct patrols, especially in the business district areas… troops will be deployed, and certainly, meron din kaming other deployment aside from those identified locations,”

 

To further strengthen security operations, the 277 deployed PNP personnel are joined by augmentation forces from the BFP, AFP, and other law enforcement units along with trained volunteers who shall support the police and assist in various areas of deployment.

 

The police major also called on other government units, including local tourism offices to coordinate closely with authorities and support security and safety efforts throughout the Holy Week observance.

 

“… yung other units po na gustong sumama during the Holy Week, please coordinate to the nearest police station—and yung last po ng operation is to call on all the department of tourism and the local tourism of the LGU to open the conduct of security operation. For the intelligence, we will sustain the conduct of information with regards to the plans and activities across the province. We have to ensure also the monitoring of our troops and civilians,” he added.

 

Meantime, authorities remind the public to remain vigilant and observe safety precaution at all times, especially during this Holy Week and summer vacation season.
