Lubuagan Farmers beef up local supply of fresh eggs thru DA grant

Lubuagan, Kalinga- The Department of Agriculture (DA)- Kalinga recently awarded a total of 954 chickens to Lattawan Farmer Beneficiaries Irrigators Association Incorporated (LFBIAI) to supply fresh eggs and boost the egg production in the municipality of Lubuagan.


The project is a community-based enterprise aiming to provide an additional source of income, livelihood and source of food to the 90 members of LFBIAI at Western Uma.


As recalled, a P400,000, 6 x12 meters poultry house was also provided by the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) under the leadership of Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus as support to the project.

The table egg production will be managed by the association using the poultry, which can accommodate up to 1000 chickens.


With the completion of the poultry house, the delivery of stocks, the trainings on Poultry Production were also provided to the group to guarantee their preparedness in supervising the project.


The chicken feeds, vaccines and cages will be also be provided by the Department of Agriculture (DA).


Said project was made possible through the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program of the DA under the Egg Production Project 2021.


Meanwhile, SAAD Kalinga, together with the designated officials, will monitor project implementation of the farmers, providing the needed technical assistance to ensure the success and sustainability of the project.


The project was validated as part of the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) in said recipient barangay of Lubuagan.
