Mentally-ill teenager found dead in Cagayan River

Lallo, Cagayan – The lifeless body of a female teenager who is said to have been suffering from mental disorder was found floating in the Cagayan River morning of August 3.

The already bloated body was discovered by a fisherman while fishing around the area.

Lallo police station said the victim was wearing denim shorts and a white shirt.

To determine her identity, Lallo authorities coordinated with Sto. Niño police on the same date the girl was found since they were alerted that someone was reported missing in said town.

Notified by the news, her family went to see the cadaver found and confirmed it was their daughter who went missing on July 25.

The victim is Marissa Fontanilla, 16, a grade 9 student from Lattac, Sto. Niño.

She was last seen on July 25 with her mother waiting for a boat on said river.

While waiting, the girl left the place unknown to his mom, and she was never seen since that day.

Her mother said she did not look for her daughter at that time since they got used to Marissa doing that occasionally and going home by herself after. But that time, their daughter had not gone home.

They went back to the place to search for the victim that day, but she was not found.

They then reported the incident to PNP Sto. Niño on July 27 to seek help.

Search and rescue operations were made, but it ended after it was confirmed that she was the one found by a fisherman in Lallo town.
