BARANGAY NEWS

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City are undergoing monthly learning sessions aimed at strengthening family development and ensuring compliance with the program’s conditions.

The initiative is carried out through the Family Development Session (FDS), a core component of the 4Ps program implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

As cited on the DSWD website, the FDS is a mandatory activity where 4Ps household grantees and parents acquire new skills and knowledge to help them fulfill their parental roles and responsibilities, particularly in the areas of health and nutrition, education, psychosocial needs of children, promotion of positive family values, and strengthening marital relationships.

According to information shared by DSWD City Link Genalyn D. Sapyong to Guru Press Cordillera during the FDS session at the Lacnog Barangay Hall on Wednesday, May 13, there are currently 136 4Ps beneficiaries in the barangay.

Explaining the process, Sapyong said the sessions are conducted monthly per cluster to ensure focused discussions and closer guidance for each family.

She further explained that during the sessions, beneficiaries are consistently reminded of the program’s conditions and their responsibilities, which they must comply with. Failure to comply with the program’s requirements may affect the amount or continuity of the cash grants they receive.

“Daytoy FDS sir ket maysa nga kondisyon iti 4Ps. Monthly mi araramiden daytoy, nga dagitoy topic mi ket tapno maimprove metlang ti kasasaad da. Per cluster mi nga i-FDS isuda and during the session, ipalpalagip mi diay condition ti program, about education and health kasjay sir tapno ma-comply da,” said Sapyong.

In a separate interview, Lacnog Barangay Captain Joel L. Alunday reminded his constituents, particularly the 4Ps beneficiaries, that the assistance should not only be received but must also be used for its intended purpose to ensure long-term benefits for their families.

He also expressed gratitude to the DSWD personnel who continue to provide guidance and support to help uplift the lives of families in the barangay.

“Dagiti tulong nga it-ited ti gobyerno ket saan laeng a maawat nu diket masapul a mausar a nasayaat para metlang iti pamilya yo, karoti panagiskuela dagiti ubbing yo. Reminder lang daytoy, mausar koma dapat diay talaga nga pakausaran na. Agyaman tayo metlang kadagitoy naanus nga DSWD employees nga um-umay iman mangas-assists kadagitoy kakailyan tayo,” relayed Alunday.
