Rape, theft top Benguet index crime from Jan.-Sept. 2023

Benguet, Philippines - A total of 561 crimes was listed in Benguet in the first 9 months of 2023, based on the data from Benguet Police Provincial Office.


Said figure is higher compared to the data in 2022.


According to PLtCol. Denver Guzman of Benguet PPO, as reported by the Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation, theft was recorded as the most committed index crime in the province from January to September with 46 cases. It was followed by rape with 42.

Other index crime incidents listed were robbery with 28 cases; physical injuries with 19; homicide, 6; murder, 2 and carnapping for motorcycle with 2 cases.


To address the increasing criminal offenses, Benguet PPO will continue to implement programs to reduce the number of crimes and incidents in the province.


Meanwhile, the latest data from the Police Regional Office- Cordillera revealed that there are 178 index crimes in Cordillera as of the second quarter of this year. Of which, theft and rape were likewise monitored to be the top cases.
