Benguet, Philippines – “We are sincerely knocking on your kind soul for any financial help/assistance for the funeral of our dear little girl,” captioned the post of the relatives of the girl who died from falling into an open drainage in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Six-year-old and Grade 1 pupil Deniela Miley accidentally slipped while walking with her sister along Sitio Pipingew in Lubas village on a rainy afternoon of Wednesday.

She was swept and fell into the open concrete drainage. The driver and rider who happened to pass by tried to rescue her but failed, urging them to call the authorities.

Upon retrieval, she was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.

Residents of the said area later came together to cover the open drainage where the girl fell.

For donations

To help offset their funeral expenses, Irish Mae Palgue, the cousin of the victim, took to social media to ask for donations which may be sent through GCash account, 09055139326, or BPI account, 8129085518. Both accounts are under Palgue’s name.

“We would like to thank you in advance for your support and help in these trying times… Any amount of donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated,” she said.

The victims’ remains were ferried to Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya on Saturday. Her burial is slated for Monday, Oct. 02, 2023.
