Tanudan, Kalinga – Among those who can be a great help in the fight to end violence against women and children(VAWC) are men.
With this idea, male employees in the Municipality of Tanudan were mobilized on December 12, 2023, to aid in countering violence being experienced by women and kids.
Said men gathered at the Davidson Hotel and Restaurant and were first briefed about the ‘Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE)’ which aim at involving male individuals in the elimination of VAWC.
After the orientation, the participants elected their officers who would lead them in the cause.
Gina Dinamman, Focal Person on Municipal Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (MCAT-VAWC), said that it is important for men to be aware of the plight of women and also for them to know the ways to eliminate violence the opposite sex and kids go through. Thus, the organization of MOVE in Tanudan.
“Ma-organize daytoy MOVE para kadagiti lallaki tapnu adda ti katulungan iti kababaihan nga mang-eliminate iti violence against women,” she said.
The creation of MOVE in Tanudan, meantime, concluded the 18-day campaign to end VAW in the municipality.
