TOSP-CAR returns after 7 years; 10 Cordillera graduates named outstanding students

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Ten college graduates from across the Cordillera were named the region’s outstanding students as the Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines–Cordillera Administrative Region (TOSP-CAR) returned after a seven-year hiatus.


The 10 awardees were recognized during the awarding ceremony for the 59th Search for TOSP-CAR held Oct. 4 at the Hotel Supreme Mall and Events Center in Baguio City.


They are Shikainah Grace P. Accab of Easter College; Christian A. Calagui of the University of Baguio (UB); Alona B. Concepcion of the University of the Cordilleras (UC); Ivan P. Cosidon of Kalinga State University (KSU); Eioul Romm F. Jacob of UB; Proverbs B. Medalla of Ifugao State University (IFSU); Nelson F. Padchonga of Benguet State University (BSU); Emmarie T. Pineda of the University of Abra (UA); Ariane G. Talosig of BSU; and Rickyziah D. Tid-ong of IFSU.


The awardees were selected through a screening process, a three-day formation program, interviews and judging.


The TOSP is an annual awards and formation program of the TOSP Foundation Inc. recognizing college graduates who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, social responsibility and moral values.


As regional awardees, the 10 graduates will represent the Cordillera in the national search for the 59th Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines.


Also named regional finalists were Norylyn Bagaporo of STI College-Baguio, Jushual Johann Carino of UC, Stefany Dy of Saint Louis University, Yanie Mayrene Gumihid of BSU, Prince Andrey Lizardo of UA, Rhonna Rhinellia Po-or of Mountain Province State Polytechnic University, Kate Veronica Sagban of Divine Word College of Bangued, Rasbemae Sapitula of UC, Quenmarie Tingey of MPSPU, and Ozea Audine Tirao of SLU.


Mark Anthony Alvar, chairperson of the Outstanding Students of CAR (OSCAR) Alumni Community Inc., said the return of the regional search demonstrates that excellence, leadership and service remain strong among Cordillera youth despite challenges.


He congratulated the finalists and awardees, emphasizing that leadership goes beyond recognition and is demonstrated through service and efforts to create positive change in communities.


Alvar also credited the OSCAR Alumni Community Inc. members for their collaborative efforts in bringing back the TOSP-CAR after seven years.
