Ulysses leaves 2 dead in Benguet

Benguet, Philippines – Typhoon Ulysses took two lives in Benguet as of November 12, one is a senior citizen in Busoc, Poblacion and the other is a 30-year-old in Sebang, Buguias.

According to PIO - Benguet EOC, a 60-year-old man was found dead after strong winds of Ulysses cut down a clump of bamboos that fell directly at his house. The other victim, on the other hand, was buried in a landslide which hit his car when he was about to go to his vehicle while the rain was pouring. The event unfortunately led to his death.

Other reported casualties in the country

Moreover, two senior citizens were reported dead in Camarines Norte, a 68-year-old who was found lifeless on the roof of his house and a 70-year-old who slipped on the floor and fell.

Further, a 15-year-old in Cainta, Rizal also died from injuries after a tree fell on their house when the typhoon struck their area.

Meanwhile, during his address this November 12, President Rodrigo Duterte assured the public that the government is on top of the situation and that from the beginning, various government agencies have been mobilized for the situation.

“I renew my call on all local government units and concerned agencies to ensure that the well-being and safety of our people remain the top priority,” he added.

Duterte further guaranteed that the government will provide assistance such as shelters, relief goods, financial aid, and post-disaster counseling to those who were affected by the typhoon.

“Rest assured the government will not leave anybody behind. We will get through this crisis, I assure you. As one nation, kapit po tayo mga kababayan, magbayanihan po tayong lahat,” he said.
