Road crash in Tabuk City claims one life

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A van driver was rushed to a hospital after crashing into a street light pole in Tabuk City, Kalinga at around 9 o’clock this Wednesday morning of June 9.


The street pole was in the middle of the national road.


Due to the huge impact, the massive concrete pole fell flat with the front part of the vehicle smashed.

Police Staff Sergeant Arnold Canao in his initial investigation said that the victim was identified as Rogelio Daguio.


According to the victim’s sibling who rescued him, Rogelio was on his way to his brother’s house when the incident happened. He was plying the ascending portion of the road going towards the Provincial Capitol when the front left tire of the van exploded causing him to lose control of the steering wheel.


The ensuing event was that the vehicle struck the light pole.

The victim incurred multiple fractures on his left leg and was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital by the personnel of the Bureau of Fire and Protection who responded to the incident.


In a recent development, police investigator Canao said Dr. Jenonito Navarro declared the victim dead at 5.28 in the afternoon.


The police said they will further investigate the incident.


Meanwhile, as of 12:00PM this June 9, the Traffic Management Unit responded to a total of 3 road accidents, 2 of are minor accidents.
