TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Vehicular accident incidents in Kalinga increased by 76 percent in the third quarter of 2026, with most incidents recorded in Tabuk City, particularly in the Bulanao area, and commonly occurring between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Kalinga Public Safety Updates presented during the 3rd Quarter Joint PPOC-PTF-ELCAC cum PADAC Meeting on September 30, 2026, the province recorded 127 vehicular accident incidents from July to September 2026, compared with 72 during the same period in 2025.

Of the 127 incidents, 118 were recorded within the Tabuk City Fire Station and Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal-Kalinga area, while four were recorded in Pasil and five in Rizal.

Within Tabuk City, the Bulanao area recorded the highest number of incidents, with the BFP identifying Bulanao Centro and Norte among the areas with the most reported cases.

The BFP also noted that vehicular accidents were commonly recorded between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m., particularly in Bulanao.

The increase in road accidents was among the public safety concerns discussed during the September 30 meeting. The BFP also identified limited availability of ambulances, rescue vehicles and responders as challenges in responding to emergencies.

The agency continues to provide emergency response and rescue assistance while conducting public information activities on road and fire safety.

The BFP reminded motorists to observe speed limits, avoid distracted or impaired driving, use proper safety gear, and remain alert, especially during evening hours, to help prevent crashes, serious injuries and fatal accidents.
