‘Your dream to be a champion is well within your reach’ – DepEd USec. to Cordillera athletes

Luna, Apayao – Having reached the regional athletic meet level, the student-athletes in the Cordillera were reminded they are now a step closer to their dream of becoming a champion.

Speaking before the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2024 participants, Undersecretary for Field Operations of the Department of Education, Atty. Revsee Escobedo encouraged them to go for their purpose of coming to the event and that is to be one with their dream.

“Your dream to be a champion is well within your reach, go for it,” he said.

Encouraging the athletes further to keep going even amidst failures, self-doubts, and setbacks, Escobedo mentioned the humble beginnings of international athletes and Olympians like Hidilyn Diaz, Wilma Rudolf, EJ Obiena, and Carlos Yulo who dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to their craft and embraced sports without conditions.

“Greatness is not reserved for the privileged few, but is attainable by anyone willing to persevere in the face of adversity,” he emphasized.

As the 2024 CARAA Meet officially started, the undersecretary then called on the public to honor not just the physical ability of the Cordilleran athletes, but also the characteristics they have to muster in order to be part of this year’s regional athletic meet.

“Let us not only marvel at the physical prowess of these athletes, but also honor the courage, sacrifice, and perseverance that have brought them to this moment,” he said.

The 2024 CARAA Meet will conclude on Friday, April 19, 2024.
