Tabuk City, Kalinga – Ten suspected members of the New People’s Army were cornered on Wednesday, March 11, after operatives served their arrest warrants in separate operations in Tarlac City and Quezon City.

The 10 were tagged by the military and the police as members of the Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC), a communist terrorist group operating in Kalinga and Abra.

Five of the 10 arrested individuals were said to be high-ranking officials and they were identified by the 5th Infantry Division as Dr. Ana Marie Rilloroza, EXECOM Member of ICRC with warrant of arrest for attempted murder; Gabriel Kennedy Bangibang, former secretary of KLG Baggas (attempted murder); Theresa Falitnang Forag, finance officer, Squad Dos of Regional Guerilla Unit, ICRC (Qualified Trafficking in Persons); Javar Anglao Sugao, former Intel of KLG Baggas (attempted murder); and Renato Ginez, former member of Weakened KLG Ampis (attempted murder).

The five were nabbed in Tarlac City along with Ranee Francella Tuazon Hullana and Marc Arriane Tolentino Mendiola who were both identified to be members of NPA Kalinga.

The other three were arrested on the same day at a condominium in Quezon City. The 5th ID named one of them as Bobby Calsiyao who is also known as “Lucky/Laki”, a former member of the KLG Baggas. Calsiyao is said to be facing frustrated murder, destructive arson, and attempted murder.

On March 12, the 5th ID rectified their earlier report about 11 NPA members being arrested during the operation, saying: “authorities clarified that while 11 individuals were initially reported arrested during the operation, one person is still undergoing verification to determine possible involvement with the arrested personalities, bringing the confirmed number of arrested ICRC remnants to ten (10).”

Following the arrest, 5th Infantry Division Commander, MGen. Gulliver Señires said that the operation is a manifestation of the strong collaboration among government agencies and the community.

“The message is clear to those who continue to pursue armed struggle – abandon it. You can run, but you can never hide, we know where you are,” Siñeres was quoted saying.
