Tabuk City, Kalinga – Fourteen iKalingas from different towns of the province are now ready to serve the country after completing their basic military training with the Philippine Navy.

The group, graduates of the Sailor Basic Course (SBC) MASINLAYAG Class 75, paid a courtesy call to Governor James S. Edduba on Monday, March 23, where they were recognized by the provincial chief executive for their achievement.

The new iKalinga sailors include Joshua B. Ontawe, Genesis B. Fafag, Jess M. Addamo, Fritz Gerald M. Carganilla, Harold P. Baggad, and Rowell M. Cawas from Tabuk City; Melvin B. Peña, Jowel Gunnawa, Jeo Benta, and Millard B. Dimas from Pinukpuk; Darmin Zeal Dom-ac from Lubuagan; Edison Dulangon and Jerald D. Bulawit from Tanudan; and Jefranneh Bitao from Tinglayan.

During the visit, the sailors shared how their training instilled discipline, structure, and a clearer sense of purpose.

They also encouraged fellow iKalinga youth, especially those still uncertain about their path, to consider joining the service.

For his part, Governor Edduba commended the group for their perseverance and dedication in completing the rigorous training and reminded them to uphold discipline, integrity, and excellence in their duties.

Following the courtesy call, the new iKalinga sailors proceeded to the provincial government’s flag-raising ceremony at the Kalinga Astrodome, where they were warmly welcomed by officials and their kakailyans.

During the activity, attended by Guru Press Cordillera, Edduba further told them, “Always carry with you the Kalinga core values (Paniyaw, Ngilin, and Bain), no matter where you are assigned. Ipanpanakel ti Kalinga dakayo.”
