Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 14-year-old girl who climbed a school fence in Magsaysay after midnight on July 26 was arrested for allegedly attempting to steal a tanod’s bag.

Magsaysay Punong Barangay Enrique Sagayo, in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, narrated that the girl went over the wall of Magsaysay Elementary School past 1:00 AM, leaving her slippers behind.

The roving tanods staying at the school at night caught the girl while attempting to run away with one of the tanod’s bag containing cash and a cellphone.

“Kaser-serrek na idiay school ta inuli na iti alad, sinumrek idiay ayan iti waiting shed pay lang nga ayan iti tanod. Iti ammu na nakaturog da, itaray na kuma diay bag ngem natiliw da,” he said.

The 14-year-old girl, now no longer studying, was turned over to Tabuk City Police Station. The record of the police showed the same girl was first arrested for getting involved in a street fight with other young people.

Sagayo said this is not the first time burglars broke into Magsaysay Elementary School.

Several burglary incidents transpired in 2018 and 2019, which was why the school was made as the base of tanods in Magsaysay at night.

Data from the PNP Tabuk shows that there are 3 minors caught stealing in the city since January 2022.
