15-yr.-old back rider dies in motorcycle-SUV collision in Tabuk City

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A minor back rider was traversing the road in Bantay, Tabuk City, with his fellow teenager when a tragic road accident unfolded, taking the former’s life on April 25, 2024.

Involved in the incident were an Isuzu Bighorn driven by Dante Lacsina, 71, and a Rusi motorcycle driven by a 15-year-old student with a 15-year-old back rider.

A witness to the incident described in the initial investigation of the Tabuk City police that the SUV, which came from Pinagan and was heading in the Calanan direction, stopped on the road in Bantay to give way to passing vehicles.

However, that was when the motorcycle ferrying the two minors, which was tailing the Isuzu Bighorn, allegedly crashed against the rear left portion of the said SUV.

Both of the motorcycle occupants fell on the road as the motorcycle lost balance due to the impact of the collision.

Unfortunately, the 15-year-old back rider sustained brain herniation and a severe traumatic brain injury and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The rider, meanwhile, suffered cerebral concussion and anterior chest pain and was admitted to the medical facility.

The 71-year-old SUV driver was brought into the custody of Tabuk City Police Station.
