19-year-old stabbed to death in Tuguegarao; 4 suspects arrested, 2 still on the run

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The family of a 19-year-old man is seeking justice after he was fatally stabbed while allegedly protecting a group of younger skaters from harassment by six individuals along Bagay Road in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, in Tuguegarao City.

The incident, according to investigators, occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. near the Steel Bridge, where the victim, identified as Zanter Troy Soriano, intervened after one of the suspects harassed a group of junior high school students who were skating in the area.

According to a witness, as cited by local news media, the confrontation began when a 21-year-old suspect allegedly taunted and harassed the young skaters. Soriano stepped in to defend them, but the situation quickly escalated into violence, with the victim allegedly being stabbed multiple times.

Police have since arrested four of the six suspects believed to be involved in the fatal attack, while a manhunt is ongoing for the two remaining suspects.

According to the victim's family, the two suspects who remain at large are siblings.

Meanwhile, Soriano's family, relatives, and friends continue to mourn his untimely death while calling on authorities to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.

In a Facebook post, the victim's relative, Vaine Soriano-Roles, expressed the family's grief and determination to pursue justice.

"Patuloy kaming umaasa na mananaig ang katotohanan at makakamit ang hustisya. Hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi namin nakakamit ang hustisya para sa'yo, Tonton."

The post reflects the family's unwavering resolve to seek justice as authorities continue their search for the two remaining suspects.
