27-yr.-old soldier is first violator of gun ban in Baguio City

Baguio City, Philippines - A 27-year-old member of the Philippine Army was recorded to be the first violator of a gun ban in Baguio City after he was reported by a complainant this Friday, Sept. 08.


The suspect, whose identity was kept, is a resident of San Vicente, Baguio City.


Accordingly, the victim proceeded to the police office after the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him.

Police immediately arrested the suspect while a Caliber 45 with 2 magazines and 15 rounds of ammunition was confiscated from him.


The accused and the seized evidence are now in police custody while waiting for the formal filing of a complaint by the victim.


He will be facing charges for violating Batas Pambansa Blg. 881, otherwise known as the Omnibus Election Code and grave threat.


Meanwhile, the authorities are continuously conducting checkpoints in different areas of the city to ensure safe and peaceful Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this coming October 30, 2023.
