Baguio City, Philippines – At least 3,780 Public Utility Jeep Operators in the region will receive a one-time P7,200 per unit fuel subsidy from the Pantawid Pasada program Phase 3 of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) this last quarter of the year.

LTFRB-CAR Regional Director Engr. Lallaine Sobremonte said that 2,947 of said beneficiaries are ready to receive the amount for each unit, while the other 833 recipients are still waiting for their fuel cards being processed by the Landbank of the Philippines.

During the nationwide launching of the program, the beneficiaries were reminded that they cannot withdraw the amount in the form of money since the cards could only be used for refueling. They just simply swipe their cards and the cost of fuel will be deducted from their account.

Sobremonte also advised the 2,947 PUJ operators that they may now check if the amount has been deposited in their account so that they can start using their cards in gasoline stations.

She also explained that the 833 recipients who have not yet received their cards will have to wait for a notice to be posted through the Landbank branch where they can claim their cards.

Meanwhile, the LTFRB and other concerned private partners are looking into resolving some issues regarding the use of fuel cards, because other gasoline stations in some provinces do not have card swipe machines.

Earlier, the national government has allotted P1 billion for the Pantawid Pasada Program to help PUJ operators who are struggling amid the covid-19 pandemic.
