Isabela, Philippines – A 30-year-old police officer from Isabela became the latest casualty among the police force after he and his colleagues were ambushed in Lanao del Sur on Monday, May 4, 2026.

Police Corporal Kelvin DC Francisco, a native of Jones, Isabela, was part of a team from the 41st Special Action Company, 4th Special Action Battalion of the Special Action Force (SAF), which was on its way to serve an arrest warrant against a suspect facing charges of murder and attempted murder in Lumbak, Buadipuso-Buntong.

While en route to carry out their mission, the operatives were fired upon, resulting in fatal injuries to Francisco and wounding four other police officers.

On May 5, the Special Action Force honored the ultimate sacrifice made by Francisco in the line of duty. The unit also extended prayers and sympathies to his grieving family and loved ones.

“As we grieve the loss of our brother-in-arms, we also hold on to the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of courage, sacrifice, and service beyond self. May his life remind us of the true cost of peace, and may his example continue to guide and inspire all those who wear the uniform,” SAF said, emphasizing that Francisco’s heroism will live on in every SAF trooper as they continue to stand on the frontlines.

Meanwhile, the suspect named in the arrest warrant escaped and remains at large. Police have launched pursuit operations to apprehend him.
