34 families in Pasil affected by ‘Ulysses’

Pasil, Kalinga – Thirty-four (34) families or one hundred forty-four individuals were affected following the onslaught of Typhoon (TY) ‘Ulysses’, according to a situational report from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pasil as of 5:00pm yesterday, November 12, 2020.


These families came from barangays Ableg (06), Dalupa (01), Magsilay (05), Guina-ang (16), Bagtayan (01) and Galdang (5). They all have already been evacuated in designated evacuation shelters of the LGU while others have stayed with their relatives.


MDRRMC Pasil, meanwhile, reported that there are thirty-eight (38) houses damaged. Seven (07) dismantled houses and blown roofs were recorded in Barangay Magsilay; thirteen (13) houses in Pugong were affected by eroded backyard and riprap and overflow of mud and debris; three (03) houses in Guina-ang experienced eroded backyard; one (01) house in Balinciagao Sur was with a damaged roof and an eroded backyard including a pigpen; two (02) houses in Balinciagao Norte were reported to have a partially damaged roof; while nine (09) residential houses in Dangtalan were damaged by siltation spill, debris flow causing them to be partially damaged by landslide. Four of these said affected houses in Dangtalan were completely covered by slide.


Status of Roads


Landslide occurred at the Gisang Section along Amdalao to Guina-ang road. Said path is passable but manual clearing is still being done in the area.


Mud flow has occurred at Wanayon section along Pingao to Lutot road but still passable as the PNP,BFP and barangay officials have immediately conducted a clearing operation.


Magsilay and Daldalkan section along Magsilay to Limu-od is not passable due to landslide that heavy equipment is need to clear the road there. Additionally, Sichil section of Pugong is not passable either because of fallen acacia tree. LGU personnel and maintenance have started to conduct their clearing operations in the area.


Other unpassable roads are located at Puway section along Lubuagan to Batongbuhay road and another section along national road Junction to Puapo Provincial Road due to landslides and siltation spillover of residential houses and debris flow.


Electric Power and Waterworks Situation


All barangays of the Municipality of Pasil have experienced a power outage since Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 5o’clock in the afternoon. Power has not been restored as of the latest report of MDRRMC Pasil.


Damaged water lines are recorded at Barangay Dalupa; damaged waterworks system is reported in Puapo and Dangtalan; while there are no water supply at Dalyan and Sition Banat in Magsilay.


Agricultural Damages


Damaged plants and covered paddies due to erosion were spotted at barangays Balinciagao Norte and Ableg. A community irrigation system of barangays Dalupa and Magsilay was also totally eroded and totally covered with mud and debris.


Rice fields, vegetables gardens and community gardens were also reported damaged due to erosion and destruction by strong winds and heavy rain.


Meanwhile, MDRRMC Pasil informed that two (02) Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) who were undergoing quarantine at Dangtalan Barangay Isolation Unit (Heirloom Rice Processing Center) were relocated at the barangay hall.
