48 former rebels in Apayao get financial aid

Luna, Apayao - A total of 48 former rebels in the province of Apayao has received cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Cordillera in recognition of their return to the fold of the law.


Likewise, said assistance is in line with the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the country’s Department of the Interior and Local Government, which aims to help them start their new lives.

Each of the 48 got P5,000 during the awarding ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 at Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall in Apayao.


Their eligibility for the financial support, as cited by the Apayao Provincial Public Information Office, were assessed by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office- Apayao and was approved by the Provincial Government.


During said ceremony, Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr., through his Chief of Staff Verlimae Baldovino, congratulated the beneficiaries while recognizing their journey towards peace, unity, and progress.


He then reassured that the local government along with other agencies will continue to assist them in reintegrating into mainstream society.


Vice Governor Remy N. Albano, meantime, added that refusing the government's programs would only bring them uncertainty in their lives.
