Benguet, Philippines – Amid the ongoing struggles of farmers to sell their produce and finance their farming needs, a farmer in Benguet faced an additional burden after losing his crops to thieves on March 22.

The theft is believed to have occurred between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Sunday in Buguias, Benguet, where the suspects targeted the farmer’s garden and harvested around 400 kilograms of carrots.

According to a relative of the victim, as cited by local media, the farm is located far from the main road and nearby houses, which is why no one noticed the incident, especially during nighttime and the early hours of the morning.

The relative added that the farmer was supposed to harvest the carrots on March 23 but had to postpone it to visit their father, who was confined in the hospital. Unfortunately, he was unaware that unscrupulous individuals had already harvested his produce before he could.

This is not the first time a farm or garden has been targeted by thieves in Buguias. A similar incident occurred in October 2025, when around 300 to 400 kilograms of ready-to-harvest carrots were stolen from a farm in Barangay Amgaleyquey.
