Aguinaldo recognized as Best CEST Community in Ifugao

Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Aguinaldo town in Ifugao has once again proven its development in various aspects such as in economic, health and nutrition, human resource, environmental protection and conservation, as well as in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

The progress of the town was recognized by the Department of Science and Technology as it conferred on Thursday, Sept. 28, the plaque in recognition for it, being the Provincial Best Community Enhancement thru Science and Technology (CEST).

The DOST’s CEST provides technology-based livelihood projects to the identified communities to alleviate poverty and empower the marginalized segments of society.

Aguinaldo, under the leadership of Mayor Gaspar Chilagan Jr., took the program as chance to showcase its progress while highlighting the positive contribution of science, technology and innovation.

Among all the CEST beneficiaries in Ifugao province, Aguinaldo scored the most in the following criteria: process (15%), community participation (15%), networking with other agencies (15%), output (20%), outcome or feedback (30%), and gender sensitivity and responsiveness (5%).

Mayor Chilagan and his constituents received their accolade during the awarding held alongside the Regional Science and Technology Week Celebration (RSTW) in Bangued, Abra.

Meanwhile, Biogan's Computer Shop from the same municipality was feted as Provincial Best Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) Adoptor, plus Agility Award.

A certificate of ownership for graduating as SETUP cooperator was also awarded to 3Gs Welding Shop.

Chilagan expressed pride for the distinction as he expressed gratitude for all those the personnel who contributed for the attainment of such award. He further encouraged his constituents to continue following the track of development not only for today’s generation but for the succeeding ones.
