Anggacan, Tanudan – Kalinga Governor James S. Edduba urged residents to protect peace and unity in the province, stressing that Kalinga’s progress has long been delayed because of unstable peace and order conditions, as he warned against ideologies that may threaten local peace and development.

The governor made the statement during the Community Consultation and Serbisyo Caravan cum Lumin-Awa Poverty Alleviation Program of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) on May 13 in Anggacan and Anggacan Sur in Mangali, Tanudan.

Edduba reminded residents that instability and conflict caused by communist groups have long hindered progress in rural and far-flung communities in the province. He emphasized that genuine development can only be achieved when peace and security are maintained.

“Isunga nga naudi tayo panggep iti progreso ta ti kapya ken talna ditoy ili tayo ket maysa nga makagapo ket dagitoy nga maka-kanigid. Sakbay talaga nga agprogreso ti maysa nga ili ket dapat adda ti kapya ken talna,” he said.

The governor added that while these groups may present convincing narratives, they often leave communities behind once problems arise, forcing residents to suffer the consequences.

“…nu agka-problema ket pumanaw da, ket datayon to metlang nga umili ti kakaasi nga mangsolbar dagiti problema. Haanen kuma garud nga maulit dagiti nangyari idi 1970s ken 1980s nga to the point nga permi ti buteng tayo,” he added.

Meanwhile, the provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to improving basic services and infrastructure, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, as part of its goal of achieving inclusive development across Kalinga.
